Carolyn Westhoff, MD
Dr. Westhoff is currently a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University Medical Center, where she serves as the Director of the Division of Family Planning and Preventive Services and the Director of the Family Planning Fellowship. In addition, she serves as the Medical Director of both Family Planning Clinics and Special GYN Services, and is a Professor of Epidemiology and Population & Family Health at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
Dr. Westhoff is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Michigan Medical School. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at S.U.N.Y. Downstate Medical Center and received a M.Sc. in Epidemiology from the London School Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Dr. Westhoff was a founding member of Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health and a founding fellow of the Society for Family Planning. In addition to practicing as an attending physician at New-York Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Westhoff has served as principal investigator on numerous research studies on the safety and effectiveness of contraception and abortion and has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles on the subject. Dr. Westhoff was recently elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies of Science.
